Hi. I started working at a company that just got their first laser. We cut mostly aluminum, but some of our parts are cut from scs steel. I am having two issues. If anyone has any input I would appreciate it. First, they want me to cut the scs with nitrogen assist gas, I am getting a fine burr, I have adjusted focus, GP, speed, nothing gets rid of it. Is it possible to cut steel with nitrogen and get a perfect clean cut? Second issue, lately I am getting a jagged cut after the lead in on the exterior surface of parts, the material is .063 aluminum, I have noticed that it seems to be in the X axis, the edge is clean but the contour is like a fine saw blade. I can upload a picture if that would help.

they bought it used, it is 12 years old, by the looks of it the previous owners ran it like a dog.

We got the machine in June, it was supposed to have been rebuilt by bystronic, it wasn't. They were out switching boards and dealing with issues in the HV unit often. I have had a problem with the Bypos Mirror. I think I have the jagged cutfigured out, I have the height sensor turned off so that I am not losting cut after lead ins when cutting aluminum, the material is thin and I think that it is just vibrating due to the GP of the nitrogen and the material bowing.
