Butterfly Valve in Thermosiphon Reboiler Inlet Lline

Hi Everybody,
A butterfly valve is already used in thermosiphon reboilers inlet line . Does anybody know the reason(s)?

With more than 45 years in process plant piping I have NEVER seen that.

"Thermosiphon Reboiler"
Is this the Vertical Shell & Tube hung on the side of the Fractionation Tower?

or

Is this the Kettle Reboiler (Shell & Tube) on an independent foundation next to the Tower?
