Hi wondering if any of you could help me i want to build a handheld console my budget is £1000 and i want it to have an imageon 2388 graphics chip in it and a decent processor.

could you recomend any parts like flash memory,ram and maybe an arm processor.

Hi,

Done that recently. OK, I didn't use that graphics chip, but otherwise.

The ARM processor I used is an LPC2106 with RAM (64 kB) and flash (128 kB) onboard. I used a "Tiny" (I think it is trademarked) board with all the voltage regulators, reset circuitry, xtl, level-buffered RS232 and such things. It has JTAG and SPI and seems to be available with an USB interface recently. I use FORTH, which is a perfect language for me. But there are systems that use C, C++ and other more common "vehicles for implementation".

I paid like £ 35 in 50 quantity and that leaves you with a lot of dough for the rest of the project. The good thing is that you get a head-start and can concentrate on your application without having to bother about communication, memory interface and such things.

Google "arm stamp", "forth stamp", "tiny arm" and similar keywords.

Based on the little you have told us I too agree with skogsgurra. Buy a prebuilt board that has I/O that will let you hook up your 2388. Once you get it all running you can retool it into your exact requirements.

Hi skogsgurra

Where did you get the container or case for your programmer?Who molds cases for projects like these for rs232 ports and such or do you take a case and use dremel tool to cut your own socket locations?
