brown-reddish treatment

Hi,

I have been searching around but still can't figure what kind of treatment on this steel/alloy steel/stainless steel. I would like to know what kind of treatment making the color brown-reddish. It is not powder coating. Any idea? thanks

Can you post a little more information concerning your work piece, like material, end use, etc.

I'm not too sure what material is it. I seen it used in tool tips like screw driver, hex driver tip, nut driver..... So, I guess it may be tool steel or possible stainless steel.
