Interesting News:

China Daily via Reuters

People inspect the scene where a bus dropped at the collapsed Wuyishan Gongguan Bridge in Fujian province, China, on Thursday, July 14.One person died and 22 were injured after the bridge collapsed Thursday morning in east China's Fujian Province.
No cause has yet been determine.

Is it just me or does that left circular concrete pier look slanted? Like the river pushed the bridge sideways?

 
I thought so at first glance.

Look just above the bush on the left side; the pier seems to be conical.

Mike, I think you are correct.

 
This looks a little like the Commonwealth Games bridge collapse in India.
 
When the photo is enlarged, the left pier does look battered on both edges, i.e., conical. Also the pier cap and bridge deck look level. Probably not a foundation problem.
