Can anyone tell me where I can find the deflection limitations for the support columns of my bridge crane system that I am designing. I see in a lot of examples where there lateral deflection limit for the runway beam is L/400. Thanks you in advance for the help.

Ahhh, thank you very much. I do see where it says for runway supports the it says total inward movement and outward movement, but the loading is for LL or Snow. So that tells me that that is for supporting off of the superstructure. My system is completely independent of the superstructure. Plus, the direction I am in question of is parallel to the runway beam (in the minor axis direction of my columns with the webs of my columns perpendicular to the runway beam).

you should probably brace you system in the longitudinal direction to prevent column sway.

usually x-bracing one bay on each line does the job....try to keep bracing toward the center and don't connect the bracing to the girders.

you also need to consider outward movement from crane lateral loading.
