Breech Lock Type Exchanger

are Breech lock type exchangers totally different with shell and tube heat exchangers or from the same family?(why?) are this type suitable for use in Hydrogen Cracking Unit? which companies have a wide and proved experience to produce such kind of equipments? thanks a lot

The google search for Breach Lock brought up the owner of this device and his website, including detailed description of the exchangers using this proprietary closure device. Look-up on the Koch Heat Transfer Company's website and you have all the answers and more in there.

As I said, all the info is in the Koch site;- however yes, the Breech Lock type of closure can be attached to a shell and tube exchanger and from the Koch site, you can see that they build this type of exchanger for high pressure and high temperature used in hydrocracking processes. Typical refinery applications are pictured over the website. They fabricate (and sell) horizontal and vertical exchangers with the Breech-Lock closures, in many configurations including shell and tube exchangers. Not quite a true breechlock but what I and few other consider a better approach

I agree that the Hemilok is a better option. In the past, there have been issues with breech lock channel access for exchangers in service over an extended period of time. Also, the Hemilok deals with thermal expansion a bit better.

Yuba uses a torus ring design for the seal for their hemilock closure, and it is more commonly called "the hated torus ring."

Check the closures offered by this manufacturer.
