Hello!
I just got a question about inductions coils for brass furnaces. There seems to be an inter-turn insulation problem. Coil manufacturer moved to new facilities and it seems that he lost some of his best and most experienced guys. There have been three inter-turn shorts in the coils after the move. So something is not being done right.
The guy that phoned me (user) says they use 50 Hz. I am more used to steel and iron furnaces and there we always (or mostly) see 300 - 600 Hz, depending on condition.
The coils are long, some 15 feet. They are used to heat the brass before it is extruded into bars.
Any comment or tip is very welcome. I do not have the time to visit the factory, but advice on what to look for would be of great value.
