Dear all,

I'm involved in the checking of a pipe cross of 60"x48" in a cooling wáter line subject to B31.1. The intention is to fabricate it as direct branch connection with or without reinforcing pad. The thing is that in the past I've used B31.1 indications (section 104.3) for TEE connections but not in cases like this. My impression is that B31.1 method wouldn't be applicable but I can't find a paragraph or statement to support it. Actually, in B31.1 method the opposite branches have no impact one on the other since the method checks the "areas" at the branch connection section but not all around it.

Have tou ever faced a design like it? Any document or reference to make sure that B31.1 method is valid?

Regards

Normally only the area around is considered.

Independent events are seldomly independent.
