I am needing some advice to begin a brake system design for my school's Formula Vehicle project. The vehicle will weigh ~475lbs will most likely run 10" wheels with 2 front disks and one rear disk on the differential.

What are some important aspects to consider in terms of design loads?

What are some good books for me to read?

What is a desirable piston force on the rotor for this application (given say 75lb 'push' from the pedal)?

If you are on the Formula SAE team, you most likely have access to a reference book in the field...Race Car Vehicle Dynamics (pub by SAE). This should give you a good start to the design of your system.
