Can I use bottom or fly ash from the coal fire power plant to soften the cooling tower water in order to run high cycles of concentration and lower the cost of dispersant?

Brian2903:

I have never heard of anyone doing that or even researching that. Where have you read of or heard of any such usage being considered? I would very much like to have that information.

Besides which how would you ever accomodate the various water soluble fly ash reminants in your cooling tower water???

Not a winning idea!!

If only 10% of the material in fly ash is lime, that will leave you with the expense of dewatering the rest of fly ash (90%) as sludge solids.
