In general yes.
Perhaps in your other configuration the booster pump plus the shipping pump were not appropriate for the system head in which it was installed.

A lot more detail will be required before you get any meaningful reply.
What is the application, how are the pumps connected, where are they in relation to each other, are they the same size pump, what do you mean by "överloading" ??????
Usually there are no major modifications needed for a booster pump - but every application is different and must be looked at individually.

"Ordinary water" is a medium not application. An example of application would be to increase the pressure above a sprinkler alarm check valve so that the fire alarm is not tripping unecessarily during pressure fluctuations of the water main.

1st pump is of 150cubic meters per hour 50meters head pumping from 600 cubic meters capacity tank supplieng water to plant. 2nd pump is of 25 cubic meters per hour 45meters head is connected to 1st pumps discharge header for pumping water for domestic purpose.2nd pumps suction head varies between 25 to 50 meters.

a full detailed sketch would help along with information on the pumps, electrical and hydraulic control system, motors, valves, pipes, pump and system curves etc. Also information on cycle times and maximum / minimum pumping rates. System pressures would also be good. Do you have all this information? Also, observations of when and how the motor overload occurred and was observed. If not, you need to gather and review it.
