books for heat treating

I am looking for some good books that deal with heat treating (carbon and stainless steel). I am a mechanical engineer and also a beginning gunsmith and I am looking for books that will help me out in this area. I can interperet metallurgy books but am looking for something a little more practical and straightforward so I don't have to dig for info so much.

A good basic book would be "Engieer to Win" by Carrol Smith - it is based around racing car materials technology but the principals are treated reasonably well.
There is nothing much available directly associated with your gunsmithing, apart from some general information in the brochures from SVI ( I believe Sandy Stryer is a metallurgist)

ASM also produce a very useful book called "Heat Treaters Guide - Practices and Procedures for Irons and Steels"

Just to add to the above. If you are really interested in heat treating while at the ASM site look over the "Materials Engineering Institute" Home study courses. These are excellent courses.
