BOM in part drawing?

I have an assembly that I can purchase in any of 30 possibilities (configurations). In order to use this assembly I have to send it out to be machined to fit my product so I need a manufacturing drawing.
I would like to be able to create 1 part drawing and insert a materials list to display all the part numbers applicable. I am only able to show 1 line item/configuration in the materials list. Is there a way to have the materials list show multiple configurations of a part file in a drawing or do I have to create an assembly file and re-enter all the
configurations?
Thanks,
Louis

llafleur,

The BOM has no relevance to a model with mulitple configurations. It will not work.

Add a design table to your assembly model. This can list each of your configurations, each with its own part number. The design table can be attached to your drawing.

Are you using SW2004?

If so use the sw BOM. This gives you the option to display any or all of the model's configurations in one BOM.

You can also put more than one BOM on a drawing sheet.

This also gives you the option to hide certain parts on the BOM.

We used to use the excel based BOM for everything.

Not anymore. GO Solidworks!!!
