I have a small hoist running along the bottom of an S-shaped beam. The beam will be supported by bolts through the top flange. Since the flanges of an S-shape are tapered, the bolt head (or nut) will bear only along one edge inducing bending in the bolt. Is it normal practice to provide beveled washers when bolting to the flange of an S-shape?
