I want to tight the bolts of for example one 20 inch flange.
I know the bolt size and bolt material.
I have calculated the yielding strenght for bolt material.
Now what should I do?

[li]Go to www.asme.org[/li]
[li]Look for ASME PCC-1[/li]
[li]Purchase a copy[/li]
[li]Start reading ASME PCC-1[/li]
[/ul]

Find out what gasket you are using and then ask the manufacturer of the gasket what bolt material and torque you should use. Or as mentioned above, get PCC-1, read it so you can figure it out.

Knowing torque values is one, understanding them is a second.
