Does anybody have any references for calculating the capacity punching shear/pull-through of a bolt in a relatively thin steel plate? I remember performing the calculation a few years ago but can't seem to remember my source.

Thanks.

AISC has an equation for pull-out of a bolt thru a HSS Section. You could probably use the same equation.

Rn = 0.85(dw)(t)(Fu)

dw = diameter of part in contact with the inner surface of HSS

t = wall thickness

F.S = 3.00

You need to look in the AISI (American Iron and Steel Institute) Cold Formed Steel Design Manual.
