I'm currently in the design stage of a tall tower vessel and I have a enquiry in bolt load calculation.
I have been referred to ASME, Megyesy Handbook for pressure vessel and some other sources. In the bolt load calculation, do I need to take out one or two pieces of bolt like what happened in the lifting sling, you only calculate n-1 slings rope used basically due to the tension of the sling itself.
What happen in the bolt load? do i need to apply the same procedure too because it will sometimes one or two of the bolt is not playing their part. So do i need to exclude 1 or 2 bolts in the calculation? I can't found it in any source I have.

You'd do much better to look at Structural Steel: AISC - Allowable Stress Design 'ASD'. Bolt loading is covered in great detail.

That's the one I lack off. Will try to get a copy.
Thanks.
