I already posted in combustion engineering forum however it was suggested it may be more appropriate here

I am looking for a method of boiling water with a heat store well above (+500C) boiling point of water without having to pressurize system.

Object is to dispense drinking water at 100C (about 2L/min). Input temperature 5-10C at 0.2 to 2 bar.

I know the water encountering +500c is going to be explosive so I am considering how to regulate the heat transfer at the water heat source interface to keep it below b.p. of water yet still maintain sufficient temperature gradient to allow a good rate of heat transfer.

Any comments welcome.

Many thanks

It doesn't necessarily have to get into contact directly with the heat source. One obvious "regulation" approach would be to use an intermediate transfer loop with something that can handle the higher temperature, but which would not necessarily the level of heat that might cause explosive boiling.

One big question is how much latency you're allowed to have before water at the 100°C temperature is dispensed. Even if the latency is ostensibly close to zero, you can simply limit the secondary loop to a much smaller mass transfer, compared to the 2L/min water flow.

Are you going to have an intermediate storage? It's pretty hard to get "instant on" flow without one.
