I am a newer engineer and have taken over the boiler and heating steam system at our plant. Can anyone recommend a training course for me? What I really need is a course that will cover fundamental operation concepts and troubleshooting of boilers, deaerators, steam traps, etc. Please let me know if you've taken a class like this that you would recommend. I'd like to find something on the West Coast, double points for summer in Alaska!

Thank you.

I would recommend that you get this book, Steam from B&W.

Here is just one of several organizations that offer courses on fossil fuel power plants.

The book Steam is quite long so I would suggest a slow cruise to Alaska by inner passage to ensure that there is time to study.

Spirax Sarco has some good information and they do offer a few courses. Not sure where you are or how many different locations they offer the courses at.

I'd also recommend the steam book by B&W. It is long but it is surprisingly cheap.
