A friend of mine was approached by Korean guys with the idea of starting a US Corporation marketing Biomass Plants throughout th US. My friend is supposed to be the CEO, as the want a US citizen as representative. They say they have already built some 25 plants, mostly in Europe and Asia. I am a structural guy, so I don't know much about this field of engineering. Is this a promising business idea or have the big players already secured their claims? My friend is eager to start, but my guts tell me to talk him out of this.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your thoughts.

They want a US citizen or a US scapegoat?

My gut is telling me that your friend should be very cautious about this...

If they are as large as they say (25 plants) and want your friend to be a major player (CEO), then I would definately want a tour of one or more of the existing plants, a detailed description of the concept (i.e. 3-4 day meeting maybe?), and a similar meeting describing my role. Certainly a 1-2 week trip to Europe for a major company recruiting a CEO isn't unreasonable if they are serious.
