Hi, I am new to using MSC.Nastran. I am running through a tutorial to help familiarize myself with the program. I have created a relatively simple bar with one load with the three translational constraints on each end of the bar, and I am trying to analyze. When I run the analysis the following comes up:

<1> version: 2005.1.2
<2> license checked out
<3> Attempting to read orgs from C:\MSC.Software\MSC.Analysis_Manager\2005r2 ...
<4> Attempting to connect to the QueMgr on Casper:2900 ...
<5> Connection with QueMgr Successful - QueMgr version: 2005.1.2
<6> Loaded configuration from QueMgr on Casper:2900
<7> Wait! Submitting job <bar>
<8> Successful! Job <bar> Submitted ... Job #1 Assigned

Then I go to the completed jobs tab and click on the job I just ran and receive the following at the end of the monitor file:

100 Job Manager...Application had errors.

There is a .tml file that I open which reads the following:

======== MSC (c) 2003 AM TskMgr log file ========

binpath: C:/MSC.Software/MSC.Analysis_Manager/2005r2
orgpath: C:/MSC.Software/MSC.Analysis_Manager/2005r2
user: SYSTEM
version: 2005.1.2

ERROR... Bad card format, card ASSIGN OUTPUT2 =.op2', UNIT = 12, FORM = FORMATTED

ERROR... Pre application error, error = -14

Not sure what this means....any help could be really appreciated. Thanks.

Don't you have a system admin that has set things up for you ? Anyways what does the deck look like ? Was the job submitted directly to nastran or via the manager in patran ?

I could be mistaken, but please check you have a "c:\scratch" directory. If NASTRAN fails to find it, it will not run properly.
