I have a 14' bearing wall I'm replacing with a microlam beam. This is typical constuction house with the wall supporting two 13'X13' bedrooms. Is a microlam beam still the way to go or is there better solutions available? How do I determine the size and load charecteristics of the beam I need? Where do I find specifications of beam flex for my situation?

We use manufacturer's literature to base our designs of LVL beams. We've typically found them at our local lumber yards. One company is Tembec Inc. (their product is called Selectem) (800)463-0456 or (819)629-2543.
