Is it common practice to leave and extra portion of annular ring out of the tank periphery, or would it be beneficial to use a bearing plate in the case were I would need 8 inches of extra annular ring in order to compensate for a low soil bearing pressure?

I have also been told that bearing plates could accelerate the corrosion of the annular ring.

What option is the best for me?

Thanks in advance,
