Hello,

Is there any Rule of Thumb for beam depth that it wont be useless in the slab?

Thanx in advance

Try L/12 or three times the slab thickness, whichever is greater.

It depends if you are talking about a narrow, deep beam or a wide, flat beam. No, there is no rule of thumb.

If you are asking, can you have a beam integral with a slab that is the same depth as the slab, the answer is yes.
