Dear all,

I'm trying to design a transfer beam for sway moments due to seismic loads. However, the maximum static bending moment in the beam is 250% higher than the dynamic one.
FYI, the spectral load case is scaled up to give a similar base reaction and storey shear.

Please let me know if there is any particular reason behind this much difference, and which one do you recommend to use, dynamic or static?

Your thoughts are much appreciated.

Cheers,
Mamix
