Has anyone run across formulas that take axial loading into account while calculating transverse deflection?
Most texts I have read, assume that the axial force in a beam is approximately zero. Thereby allowing the use of pure bending formulas. I'm trying to determine the effect of axially pretensioning a beam on transverse deflection. So this is assumption doesn't work in my case.
