Hi All,

I am working on a project in which the client wants to put a high sensitive equipment in a ground floor of the building. they have conducted a vibration survey and the current vibration levels are higher then the acceptable levels established by the equip manufacturer. The current foundation system is slab , grade beam and pile system .

we are planning to cut the slab and pour a new foundation supported by helical piers. This will isolate the foundation for the equipment from the main foundation system .

what are your thoughts on this idea ? Please feel free to suggest new idead to reduce the vibration.

Sounds reasonable. Make the slab nice and thick, as vibration is inversely proportional to stiffness. Check to see what type of vibration dampers are included/available with the equipment.
