I am looking for a good book, or article, that talks about base heave in excavations. I have seen this somewhere, don't recall where and cannot locate it in any my books (2 at the moment).

I would like to go through the calculations for this. Haven't had to do this yet, but may need to in the future.

Thanks.

Open excavation or temporarily braced? Clays or Sands? Groundwater?

I just finished analyzing a strutted excavation in soft SILT and CLAYs. I used Foundation Design and Construction by MJ Tomlinson. This book references Bjerrum and Eide.

Hope this helps.

I am looking for all potential situations. Most would be below the water table.

Thanks for the reply, I will look for the book you list.
