Baffle Design in ASME BPVC Section VIII

Am I right to assume that the requirements for the design of a baffle in a pressure vessel is contained in the publication ASME BPVC Section VIII?

The vessel is designed to this code and there is a requirement to replace a corroded baffle and attached stiffners. I am being tasked to verify their new design will be Ok and I am looking for the relevent design code to check.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

If baffle is not pressurized then it does not need to meet ASME code requirements. The non-pressure structural parts like your baffle and stiffeners are typically designed per AISC's ASD or LRFD rules.

If your new baffle design affects load or stress on any pressurized part of the vessel them the vessel has to be checked per Section VIII.

If your pressure vessel is a shell and tube heat exchanger, TEMA also has a standard for baffle thickness. Personally, I find the TEMA standard baffle thickness to be overkill, but your customer may have other opinions. If it is a standard pressure vessel, the previous comments have your most applicable answer.
