I'm using V18 of Solidedge and just created a new template for part drawings. There are previous drawings I need to use but they have their own background sheet/template. How do I change the part drawings to my template without having to re-dimension everything?

Any help greatly appreciated
Thanks

Hi,

to exchange the background sheets of existing drafts there is
a program available
ChangeBackgound

it's in German but AFAIK can be switched to English language

You can copy/paste all your drawing views from one draft to another ie. from old drawing into new template.
Alternatively copy/paste the info from the background sheet of your new drawing into the old ones.

Beachcombers 2nd alternative is the better of the two choices.

Open your new template,
go to the background sheet,
select all and copy.

Open the old drawing,
go to the background sheet,
select all and delete,
paste.

Actually, if file properties are different etc the first method of beachcombers can have advantages.

I decide on a case by case basis, I've probably done the second one more though.
