I know there's supposed to be a 2004 edition of B31.3. Does anyone here know when the new edition will actually come out? We are about halfway through 2004 now. The ASME website makes no mention of the 2004 code, except that Charles Becht has put out a revised edition of his Process Piping book with explanations to the changes in the 2004 edition.

Thanks,

To Ed Klein,
It was lucky for me to attend seminar by Charles Becht in April. Dr. Becht recommended to not purchase a current B31.3 piping code for the seminar since the update was being issued soon, perhaps July. ASME seems to be busy with publishing. The ASME website digtal store is announcing the release of the B&PV 2004 Code for July. The previous sequence of issuing B31.1 update followed by B31.3 update lead to me to check on the B31.1-2004 update, and it is not going to be available until 12/2004. So I would think the B31.3 Code won't really be available until end of the year. Perhaps it's the change to a compressed two year re-issue cycle that is resulting in delay. Another thing that will keep ASME busy is that AIChe has downsized their organization and outsourced their education programs and publications - to ASME.
