I'm attempting to apply Sec III article Y-5000 to a B31.1 system. S_c and S_h come out of B31.1 appendix A. S_y though is only listed in B31.1 as a specified minimum (assumed at 70°F). I'm able to go back to SecII Part D table Y-1 to get most yield values across the temperature range (and the B31.1 yield at 70 matches the Sec2PartD yield at 70). However...
Some B31.1 materials are not listed in Section II Part D. For instance, SA-358 seamed stainless pipe:
Class 2 (double welded, 0% radiography) and 3 (single welded, 100%) are not listed. Class 1 (double welded, 100%) is listed.
Any suggestions on what can be done for these two unlisted?
I have two options in mind, but would like some unbiased suggestions for getting S_y values.
The logical way around is to roll the spool such that the welded attachment isn't near the seam, but that's an uncommon note/detail and could be missed in fabrication.
