Auto generation of wood trusses for complex pitched roof (truss4 alternatives)

hey guys,

As you know, laying out trusses for a complex roof is a pain.
I know there are some software that are capable to generate truss layouts such as truss4 & AGACAD etc, but almost all are paid.

Is there any free software for the same work?

No. And the reason is that it actually takes a fair bit of skill and experience to layout a complex roof efficiently. Even with the fancy paid programs, a novice operator wouldn't be able to produce something actually constructible. Automation still only gets you so far.

It is best to have the supplier use their proprietary software for this task. I typically get them involved early on complex roofs and get a layout that I can design from.
