Attach SS bolt to SS plate

I need to attach a 1/4"-20 SS stud to a SS sheet (.06" thick) for DC power connection (car battery).
Currently a hex bolt is tack welded on. Looking for a better way. New program so can look at all possibilities.

Look into stud welding. It is a capacitive welding process with specialized components. An example:

Have you read faq731-376 to make the best use of these Forums?
 
You are using stainless steel for electrical conduction? Strange choice.
 
Penn Engineering makes a line of press-in clinch studs too, might work in your application and avoid welding.
