We are intending to build storage tanks for storage of Vegetable oils. The tanks steel grades are suggested ASTM- A283 Grade c or BS 4360 Grade 40. The Dia of the tanks shall be 15 meter and height as 18 meter. Please advise if I can get some info about the suitability and compatability of these grades and which grade shall be most suitable and economical. Is there any grade which is most economical for storage tanks for palm oil. Can I get some design tips for heating coils for such tanks
Can some body guide me on the parties who can supply these cut and bent steel
plates for local fabrication.
Thanks and regards

Normally Stainless steel or other food grade material is used for storage of palm oil. This is to prevent contamination. Where are you placed?

If you need to maintain oil temperature permanently, I suggest that you consider tank with two walls, the space between walls being used as a container for heating medium (preferably steam). This way horizontal collars, part of static support, can be used to support both walls, making construction desirably stiffer.

This solution cannot be justified if you have very frequent start-stop occations in normal run. In that case heating collars are better.
