As per the ATEX directive - one for the Manufacturer , it is indicated that all the pumping unit ( pump , seal , coupling ,motor4 and pump accessories)are to be certified for use in the ATEX environment. We are ensuring all the instrumentation and electric devices for this certificate. But in the case of the Pump , seal ,Coupling and its accessories is this ATEX directive is applicable? We specify the Area classification in our Data Sheets and vendor/ manufacturer also acknowledges this. How far is this followed. For example , for heavier pumps , how can we go in for a coupling which do not generate spark if there are some failures? Pl advise.

You should be able to go directly to the manufacturer and request an Atex Certification for gearboxes, coupling, electrical equipment, pumps, etc.

You must extend these measures until you get outside of the hazardous environment limit.
