Assistance Using USDA_NRCS Soil Surveys

I'm looking for some help using the USDA-NRCS soil surveys for a pipeline project. I've already downloaded the shapefiles and imported them into AutoCAD via AutoMAP. Does anybody have experience using the soil survey to generate a resource report for a FERC application? Basically, identify soil series, acres impacted, soil characteristics, etc. By the way the web address for the online soil surveys is pretty neat - check it out at:
