Hello guys,
Just registered here.

First of all, i am a mee student and still learning pro
e.

Right now i am having a problem with assembly, i drew a
reel and a pallet. Now i am trying to place the reel on
the pallet, trying to use edge on surface (edge of the
board on to the surface of the flange of the reel), but i
keep getting invalid constrain.

What would you guys use to fix the problem?

I used solid works and it was as simple as mating the
edge to the flange surface.

I know it sounds confusing and i would like to attach a
picture but it seems like i cant

Thanks

Rafa

personally, i would create an axis on the pallet and just align the pallet axis with the axis of the reel. then mate the two surfaces that touch and you're done. then you can move the reel on the pallet by changing the axis location as necessary

I originally thought your reel was laying flat on the pallet.

The easiest way is to round the edges on the pallet that the reel will rest on, since that is most likely the shape of the actual part. Then align the center plane of the reel and pallet to center the reel where you want it to be relative to the sideways direction, and then use Tangent constraints to control the reel edge surface to each of the pallet rounds that you added previously.

Bob,

That worked out perfect.
I appreciate the help.

Thank you

You are welcome, glad it worked for you.
