Operators loading hot asphalt into tanker trucks are often exposed to a flood of vapors above the truck dome. Most terminals/asphalt plants utilize some type of exhaust system to remove these vapors. Systems can consists of a simple fan to blow the vapors away or piping, a mist eliminator, and pressure blower. I recently installed a system using schedule 10 ss piping, a mist elimination vessel/filter, and a pressure blower. I chose not to use pvc pipe because of concerns with static electricity buildup. In preparing to install another similar system, my boss requested that I try and find additional information to justify not using PVC. Do any of you have any thoughts on this issue? I would like to find some definitive information/guidance one way or the other.
Thanks in advance.
