See the following note, on a print referencing ASME Y14.5M:

6. WELD AND STRESS RELIEF PER AWS D1.1/D1.1M. MAG PARTICLE INSPECT FINISHED PART PER ASTM E1444. NO INDICATIONS ALLOWED. CERTIFICATION REQUIRED.

This is an "unboxed" note on a weldment. There are no indicators of location to apply for this note. Do you interpret as:

"Mag Particle just the welds and heat affected zones",
(Due to the fact that it is included on the weld note 6, and raw materials were also Ultrasonic Inspected prior to weld)

or,

"Mag Particle 100% of all surfaces, including raw material after weld"?
(Based on the note "finished part", and if only a given area is subjected to note requirements, it is a boxed note and the affected area is directly tagged on the drawing with its boxed number)

?

Best option is to ask whoever did/provided the drawing.

If this is impossible then as you say it's part of the weld note so I'd probably take it to apply only to welds and maybe immediately surrounding areas. Clearly state this on your bid or delivery documents etc.

Don't suppose ASTM E1444 gives any information that might help clarify?
