I found some other topics about this, but I just want to make sure the answer is explicit and specific.
On an ASME pressure vessel (not a pipe), when determining the required fillet weld size on the external leg of an B16.5 slip-on flange, can you subtract the corrosion allowance from the nominal wall thickness [per UG-16(e)] before calculating the weld size?
Example: .500" wall thickness w/ .125" corrosion allowance.
External fillet size per UW-21 = (.500-.125)*(1.4)=.525 minimum
External fillet size per UW-21 = (.500)*(1.4)=.7 minimum
Which is correct?
Thanks!
