I was wondering if someone could help with interpretaion to the last paragraph regarding fillet welds. Does this requirement apply to all fillet welds or just to P11 materials? The last sentence of that paragraph seems to indicate that the paragraph is only applicable to P11 materials.

I was looking for supporting information on the requirement that fillet welds on pressure boundaries are required to be supported by a groove weld with impacts. This paragraph seems to support that, however, the last sentence is throwing me off. Are there other paragraphs supporting that requirement about fillet welds. I did do a search and found a post with some information but nothing referring to this paragraph.

Please let me know if more information is required. I am familar with impact exemptions that can be applied depending on the application, so I don't have an issue once I can close this quesiton out about the requirement.

Thanks

As I read, the paragraph is not specifically for P11 materials. It says that for P11 materials , the rules are additional to some XXX rules of section IX. For your other query, you keep looking.

jrupert24, when a weld procedure is used for fillets only in production, it shall be qualified by a groove weld test. It shall meet the a), b) and c) requirements. IF P-11 material it shall meet UG-84(h)(2) and QW-202.2.

Note that UG-84(h) applies to procedure qualifications only.

Regards,

Mike
