I need help in using Table TM-1 (ASME Section-II, Part D). I couldn't find a way to know the carbon content of CARBON STEELS. As first two rows of the tables are governed by carbon percentage, I stuck on how to select a correct row while selecting a CS (carbon steel) material.

For example: When I select an SA-516 70 or SA-105 material, then how do I know the carbon percentage of those materials. The first row in the table is for C <= 0.3% and second row for C > 0.3%.

Champ58,

The answer is in ASME Section II Part A (1 or 2). This Section includes the specifications for all ASME materials and it includes the chemical requirements (composition, %) of the elements in the product.

For example, SA-516 Grade 70 has max of 0.27% of Carbon (From Table 1)
