I have had previous experience where different states have specific requirements for the type of vavles installed in the blowdown and drain lines of power boilers. Is there any where else in code other than Part PG that discusses specific requirements for valves placed in the blowdown and drain lines coming off of a boiler? Thanks for any input.

Please note the code distinction between blowdown , blowoff, and drain lines, and ensure that the boiler PID that defines these valves are accurately transmitted to the EPC vendor that is designing the downstream piping. We have had piping failures in the past , caused by the EPC vendor not recognizing the severity of service of these lines ( and as defined by code). Not all drain lines are created equal.

For boiler blowoff (periodic bottom and mud drum blowoff), many engineering companies guidelines specify Sched 160 piping due to the extreme erosive nature of the event.

I have also heard of using 2.25 Chrome moly alloy piping in this service.
