It appears there is a misconception whereby maintenance of petrochemical plants use ASME B31.3.

However, I know there is a specific ASME standard relating to maintenance of petrochemical plants.

My problem is that I forget what the standard is called.

can anyone help?

Hi Albertaengineer,

The ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes address new construction. The ASME B31 Codes for Pressure piping also address new construction (however, B31.1 Power Piping has Appendix V which addresses maintenance, modification, replacement and repair of Power Plant piping systems.

The new ASME Post Construction Codes (PCC) will address the remaining life issues. Two PCC's are issued now.
