Hi,
We have been asked to make some pipe spools with slip-on flanges at each end of the same diameter as the pipe.
The code that we have to make to is ASME B31.3.
I understand from the code that I am supposed to x-ray 5% of butt welds (for each welder) but with slip-on flanges there is no butt weld to x-ray.
What do I do / where do I look to, in order to work out the NDT requirements.
Obviously if I used weld neck flanges I would get a butt weld that could be x-ray's, but the client wants slip-on's, so this would not be a solution.
Any help would be appreciated.
