Hi all,

One of our suppliers in Asia is offering us these Chinese versions of TNY and TOP SMPS switcher ICs.
Here's a pic of some samples:

I'm not sure of their reliability, since they're not listed as authorised PowerInt manufs./vendors.
Do you think we should buy them?
Any thoughts/experiences are welcome.

Thanks,

PS: Don’t know if posting the vendor’s link goes against the forum rules.

Even in the best situations, there's a risk.

I can even tell you that we had a microprocessor design team that left the company and basically designed the exact, identical processor for a different company using a different chip process.

Took them a year to find the bug in their new chip that we had already fixed in the original.

On the other hand, there may be nothing wrong with these parts because they may be, in actuality, the OEM ICs repackaged from "gray market" procurements.

Caveat emptor.

Thanks for the lead. I'll take the risk anyway, since we are supposed to receive original spare parts for servicing, by next month.

Thanks again!
