I have a small problem. We have a device that outputs a simple alarm via ASCII code, but my Plant Network is ModBus RTU. Does anyone know of some Local (N. American) products that are tried tested and true?

The output of your ideal device is Modbus RTU, the input is ? ? ?

I read the post to indicate that he has a device that outputs a text string and would like a device that upon recieving the text string prepares some sort of Modbus RTU message. I say prepares a message because Modbus RTU is a master slave protocol and the device would need to be polled by the master. This won't be a problem since he is using a BMS.

I don't know of any devices that can be purchased off the shelf to accomplish this, but it wouldn't be too awful difficult to design one with a little microcontroller.
