As only 10% of the buildings meet the "box type" that is used in the ASCE 7 figures, there is no correct way to apply the figures to the other 90% of the buildings. IMHO. So I have always used my engineering judgement, hopefully on the conservative side, to apply the figures loads. As for your pdf, I would be a little bit more conservative in applying the loads.

As EOR's we should take the responsibility to design our structures to support the components we allow in our design per that industry standards.
